Garba Etiquette 101: The Unwritten Rules of the Circle
How to join the floor without tripping the flow.
The circle looks intimidating from the outside and is more forgiving than you fear from the inside. A few rules keep it flowing.
The basics
- Move counter-clockwise with the circle, never against it.
- Keep the ring intact; don't cut across the center during raas.
- Match the tempo — early evening is slow and welcoming.
- Give people room, especially on the fast turns.
